在段老师推荐了《万物简史》与《数理化通俗演义》之后，我立刻网购来了这两本著作。两本书到家后，我简单地分别翻了一下，立刻选择先看较为有趣的《数理化通俗演义》，这本书显然更为幽默，对于一本科学史方面的著作来说，它算是比较浅显易懂的。

书中，你可以用一种趣味的方式漫游科学世界，以一种非常有宽度、有深度的方式了解科学的“长度”——即科学的历史。本书的作者是梁衡，一位新闻理论高手，不过从这本书中也能看出他实际上对科学并不了解，因为他是以一个能使入门者明白的角度讲科学史，从这部书（小说？论著？）的形式来看，梁衡应该很大程度上借鉴了明清小说的章回小说体系，就连我这样一个对理科的了解程度并不比对文科的了解程度强的人读起来都津津有味。

全书的第一章，就以咱们国家的屈原的《天问》开头，说明了早早在那样的年代，就有人有了How Did We Get There?What Is Out There?这样的疑问，这本书的第一章，就开了一个好头，吸引起了读者的兴趣，就包括我。

Rain: Hi Danny, Why do pill bugs die on their backs?

Danny: In fact, not only dead pill bugs would lie on their backs, most of the bugs would do the same thing as pill bugs when their lives had fled. The main reason is that dead bugs do not have the energy to maintain the standing position anymore, thus lying on their backs which were more stable and occupied more area compared with other parts of the body, would be the best choice. Moreover, there is fluid flowing in the living bug’s body, but when they died, the joined legs shrinking to the abdomen would not support the body as a result of the loss of flowing fluid. So, it is common that a dead bug lay on the back at the very end of its life.

段老师：实际上，并非只有死鼠妇如此，大部分虫子在它们的生命消逝后，都会保持这种背朝地面朝天的姿势。最主要的原因在于此时的虫子体内不再提供保持站立姿势的能量了，后背相对于身体其他部分来说，面积最大，也最稳定，以后背着地是最佳选择。另外，活虫子的体内有体液在涌动，但当它们死去，体液的流动停止，附肢中缺少体液的充盈，会萎缩贴于腹部，不再能够撑住身体。所以你经常能看到死虫子躺着的现象了。
